Advent Thoughts #4

How it feels to be surprised ?

Do Little Things Matter…?

I was pondering over a topic for my blog post today. I thought of many but I was confused. I listened to some songs to clear my mind. Just then I heard the door bell ringing and my dad went out to the unknown visitor. I continued to listen to my lovely playlist on Spotify.

My dad came back with an Amazon package. He asked me to help with one of the package and I started opening the same. I jumped with joy. I was really astonished to see what was inside. I was speechless. It was one of the inspiring books I wished to buy – THE QUEEN by Anita Sivakumaran.

I was longing to buy it the moment I finished watching the web series based on the same. You can watch the ‘The Queen’ here :

The novel is loosely based on the life of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Jayalalithaa’s remarkable life (and her death) has inspired literature and art. She lives on through stories and biographies, and her life is fodder for The Queen.

May be this incident might look simple and unimportant to another person. But it really means a lot to me. It’s an exciting experience to be surprised like this. The feeling that you get everytime you see a gift is overwhelming.

Do little things matter? Yes it does. It always does. Little things can make a great difference. It brings meaning to everything you love. The lunch your loved one made for you every single day has an unconditional love of years. That napkin someone gave you with a small lovely note on it is still in your pocket. That glass of water your dad gave you in between your busy schedule and that hug your brother gave when you were sad and cold. I can keep writing as long as I want. All these little things have made your life beautiful which you may not realise.

Every little surprise, every lovable thought and every caring touch makes you happier. Little things make memory for a lifetime. And these little efforts someone makes for you even when they are busy outside, even during their hard times is fathomless. That someone may be your friend; may be not. But they’re are indeed a valuable asset you can count on.

A heartfelt thanks to all who made my day a little more meaningful all these years and a lot of love for my dad’s surprise gift today.

Dear readers,

Take a look back to all those beautiful and amazing little moments of your life.

Feel the love..❤️

Understand how lucky you are….

Make others feel the same too..

Do those little things for everyone out there. May be you could make their day better.

Because little things matter.

I Believe You.

With Love,

Aleesha Thomas
